A political giant and a business tycoon, Chief Barr. Humphrey Anumudu, has been buried in his ancestral home, Mbieri, Mbaitolu Local Government Area, Imo State, on last Thursday.
He was buried after a requiem mass at Christ Anglican Church Obazu Mbieri, Mbaitolu Local Government Area, Imo State.
The funeral attracted many sympathizers including His Excellency, Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential Candidate in the just concluded elections, Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, who represents Owerri Zone in the Senate, Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, former Governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, PDP gubernatorial candidate for November 11 2023 election, Senator Samuel Anyanwu (Samdaddy).
Speaking to newsmen, second son of the decease, Brown Nnanna Anumudu, promised that he and his siblings are going to replicate the good legacies their father left behind to his honor and for the continued progress, togetherness and peace of their home.

Nnanna maintained that their father was a good man who loved humanity irrespective of class, religion or origin, pointing out that he was a good father to them, regretting that his demise was very sad, as he would not be easily forgotten.
“We are going to enliven the legacies he left. There are 12 houses inside Anumudu Estate. Our cousins live here. We all live in harmony. It is now left to us to replicate the legacies our fathers left – what they have done – and we can achieve that through the unity they have already set up here. We are already in such discussions of how can we continue their legacies, how can we continue maintaining this compound and the estate and all that”.

Nnanna added that the Anumudu dynasty is happy being united and flourishing as “most of us are doing well financially and I think we are going to continue what my father was doing for people outside this large compound”.
In his words, the last son of Humphrey Anumudu, Alaoma Anumudu, hinted that the legacies his beloved father left behind are “continuation of legacies my grand father left behind. Though my grand father was polygamous. He married 3 wives, had 16 children. All his children live in the same house. We are probably one of the families in Imo State who have what we share”.
He stressed that the affinity and unity “did not start from my own father. My father did his own part in continuing the legacies. It started from my grandfather and his brothers were together. So, it is left for I and my siblings to take the legacies forward. We will try as much as possible to keep the unity to make sure we are involved in everything that happens in Anumudu family. We have about 60 cousins – it is a big family and we do what we can to make sure that every member of Anumudu family is remembered and taken care of”.
In her own tribute, the first and only daughter of Chief Humphrey Anumudu, Akunna Onyedire (Nee Anumudu, Ada Humphrey), said her father lived a good life and would always be remembered for his good deeds to humanity.
“Good deeds count while you are alive. And my dad lived a good life. He can be remembered for the love he showered on us and others. He was indeed what a father should be. Hence we vowed that we are going to enliven his good deeds”, the first daughter maintained.
