Okey Ezeh is Our Candidate, Still in Imo Guber Race – SDP
The Social Democratic Party, SDP, Imo State Chapter has re-confirmed the candidacy of Sir Okey Ezeh for the Imo governorship polls come Saturday March 9, 2019.
The Party Chairman in the state, Chief Val Emefili who made the statement in a press conference on Thursday March 7 in Owerri revealed that the party has obtained a stay of execution from the Court of Appeal allowing Sir Okey Ezeh stand in for the guber elections.
According to him, “We have obtained stay of execution from the court and appealed that obnoxious pronouncement.”
“Okey Ezeh is our governorship candidate. We are set to face the electorate on Saturday. This election is already won by Okey Ezeh”, Chief Amafili added.
Also speaking, the State Deputy Chairman of SDP, Hon. Ben Anochie said the party has the absolute and constitutional right to choose its leaders, candidates or who represents them at the polls and not the other way round.
He said “We are the party. We decided who to be our governorship candidate, and he is Okey Ezeh. Nobody can hide behind any court to impose himself on us”.
The Imo SDP Secretary, Dr. Ezekiel Uzochukwu while reacting to the matter in court of who is the authentic candidate of the party said the party is supreme and as such takes decisions on its own.
“Casmir Anyanwu has been expelled from the party by the NWC and ratified by the NEC. How can a non-member of the party take us to court? Thank God an appellate court has halted their midnight coup”, he fumed.
