Criminal Impersonation: SDP Moves to Arrest Casmir Anyanwu
By Emma Ukaegbu, Owerri
The Social Democratic Party, SDP, has vowed to throw Dr. Casmir Anyanwu into prison over criminal impersonation and sundry other alleged offences which the suspended member of the party is said to have committed.
This was disclosed by the Imo State Chairman of the Party, Ogbuehi Val Amafili, while addressing newsmen in Owerri on Thursday.
The party described as shameful the continued efforts by Anyanwu to deceive the public by claiming to have been nominated as the governorship candidate of the party even when it is already in the public domain that the party’s duly nominated candidate is Sir Okey Ezeh who is already poised for a sweeping victory in the upcoming March 9th guber polls.
“It is unfortunate that Casmir Anyanwu whose membership has since been suspended by the party for anti-party activities still goes about deceiving unsuspecting members of the public, claiming to be the governorship candidate of the party. To be clear, there was never a time that he was validly elected as the governorship candidate of the SDP, neither was his name ever submitted to INEC. The electoral umpire has since published the name of Okey Ezeh whose emergence was in total compliance with the constitution of the SDP and our extant electoral laws.
“It is therefore disturbing that despite these facts, and notwithstanding his suspension from the party, Anyanwu remains content in his business of hoodwinking Imo people. He has bought willing accomplices among some local media practitioners in Imo who have lent him the voice to tell unprintable lies against our great party.
“As a party, we have resolved never to condone the atrocious attempts by Anyanwu to undermine our very incontestable electoral victory in Imo State. Having been suspended from the party, it is criminal for Anyanwu to keep usurping our identity and pretending to be our governorship candidate. Law enforcement agencies have been duly notified and the needful will promptly be done,” Amafili stated.
Meanwhile, security sources have confirmed that Anyanwu, who is also said to be on the run, will be picked up by security operatives soonest.
