ISIEC issues Certificates of Return to LG Chairmen-elect

The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, ISIEC, on Monday September 23 issued Certificates of Return to the 27 Council Chairmen-elect and their Vice Chairmen-elect respectively.

The issuance of the Certificates of Return forms the conclusion of the long-awaited Saturday September 21, 2024 Local government Council Elections.

Presenting the Certificates of Return to the Chairmen-elect at ISIEC office in Owerri, the ISIEC boss, Chief Charles Ejiogu, stressed that the outcome of the LG election was the democratic will of Imo people at the grassroots.

“The LG elections that just happened in Imo State is a concrete demonstration of the will and determination of the people to express themselves democratically in an atmosphere devoid of bitterness and rancor as the Saturday’s election was adjudged by observers to be peaceful, free, fair and credible”, Ejioju added.

According to the electoral umpire, “therefore, having concluded the elections and in consonance with the provision of the law, Electoral Act and other enactments, the Commission forthwith formally issues Certificates of Return to the 27 Council Chairmen-elect, while that of the 305 Councillors will come in few days”.
