Ohakim Withdraws From Imo North Senate Race
Former Governor of Imo state and frontline APC Senatorial Aspirant, Ikedi Ohakim has withdrawn from Imo North Senatorial race citing personal reasons.

Ohakim, who wrote a letter of withdrawal to the National Chairman, of the All Progressives Congress, APC as well as issued a press release on Friday May 27, 2022 to that effect, said “After due consultations with my family and close political associates, I wish to inform the good people of Okigwe zone, Imo state that I have withdrawn from the senatorial primary election scheduled for Saturday, May 28, 2022. The decision to
withdraw is purely for personal reasons”
He went further to pledge his commitment to the welfare of the zone at the state and federal levels while urging his supporters to accept the decision in good faith.
“Let me, however, seize this opportunity to assure my brothers and sisters in the zone that I shall remain committed to the pursuit of their wellbeing and that I will continue to do everything within my reach to ensure that the zone takes its pride in place both at the state and national level”
“May I also express my profound gratitude to all those, within and outside the zone, who believed in the project and gave me both moral and material support, and plead and hope that they will take this decision in love and in faith”

Ohakim letter reads:

Dear Sir,
WITHDRAWAL FROM SENATORIAL PRIMARY ELECTION.
It is with the highest sense of responsibility that I write to inform you of my withdrawal from the senatorial primaries for Imo North scheduled for Saturday, May 28, 2022″
“This decision to withdraw from the race was arrived at after due consultations with
my family and close associates and after a thorough review of events in the last couple of days”
“I wish to assure the leadership of our great party at all levels of my commitment to the success of the party both now and in the future.
“May I also seize this opportunity to thank you for your encouragement and moral support while I was in the race”
“Please accept the assurances of my highest esteem.
