Ohaji Youth Inaugurates Newly Elected NACOY Executive as Ogbuehi Takes Over as President
The youth of Ohaji district in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State have inaugurated the newly elected executive of their youth governing body called National Congress of Ohaji Youth(NACOY).
The inauguration took place on Saturday at University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences Umuagwo, pavilion with numerous personalities in attendance while Engr. Peter Akpelu served as the event Chairman.
Commissioning the occasion, Engr. Peter Akpelu congratulated the youth of Ohaji for the peaceful conduct of her election. He enjoined Ohaji people to embrace peaceful coexistence and champion the true emancipation of Ohaji district wherein the natural mineral resources from the land will effectively benefit his people especially the development of the district as oil producing areas.
Handing over to the new executive of NACOY, Comr. Nicholas Tochi Nwosu, been the immediate past NACOY President recalled that his administration was elected and inaugurated on the 1st of July, 2023 with total number of 14 executive. He boasted that his administration registered NACOY with the Imo State Ministry of Youth Development which enabled them to participate in various government programs.

Tochi led executive formed the Ohaji Central Security Network that is responsible for security keeping of Ohaji district. He led the Advocacy for road infrastructure in Ohaji, employment opportunities for 24 Ohaji indigenes into teaching career. He championed the campaign against inclusion of Ohaji into the proposed Anim State, promotion of local content job and many others he achieved, while urging his successor to do better for Ohaji people.
In his inaugural speech, the leader of the NACOY 9th executive, Comr. JohnCliff . I. Ogbuehi said “today represents more than the inauguration of new executive, it marks the beginning of a new chapter and a renewal of our commitment to the unity, progress, development and collective aspirations of the Ohaji youth.

“As your President and as a security expert, I firmly believe that no meaningful development can thrive in an atmosphere of disunity and insecurity. Therefore, our administration will be guided by three major priorities: Unity, Security and Youth empowerment/Employment.” The President assured.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the inauguration Central Planning Committee, Barr. Thadeus Oloko revealed that the youth body have clocked decades and that the body has enjoyed the support of many. Urged everyone to continue supporting the current executive and charged them to remain focus in pursuance to the desires of Ohaji people.
The secretary of the Planning Committee, Engr. Davis Ogbuji who administered a special prayer on the new administration, prayed that God sustain His focus and use the new executive to the glory of heaven and actualization of Ohaji district development.
Meanwhile, those inaugurated on the Saturday 12th September are: Comr. JohnCliff Ogbuehi as the National President of NACOY, Comr. Ojiji Japhet . O(Vice President 1), Comr. Ogbonna Emmanuel . C(Vice President 2), Comr. Collins . C. Ohamara(Secretary General), Comr. Nwulu Justice Azubuike(Treasurer), Awulotu Loveday Mbakwe(Auditor General), Comr. Obichere Emmanuel . C(Financial Secretary).
Others were Comr. Ujunwa Nometa (National Publicity Secretary 1), Comr. Uchenna Blossom. E(Woman Leader), Comr. Oparaji Chijioke Jude(Provost 1), Ogidereji Levi’s Ikechukwu (Organizing Secretary 1), Comr. Igwe Emeka(Provost 2), Comr. Wisdom Ezekwe (Organizing Secretary 2) and Amadi Justin Chigozie( PRO 2).
The event featured the award presentation to 35 personalities like Engr. Peter Emeka Akpelu as “Philanthropist”, Chief Charles Orie as “Distinguished Leader of the People”, Lt. Col Jude Abuo who is the Garrison Commander Obinze as “Ezienyi Ohaji”, Hon. Eugene Bibiagwu who is the current National House of Assembly member representing Ohaji/Egbema -Oguta-Oru West Federal Constituency as “Beacon of Light”, Hon. Francis Uzoma Osuoha who is representing Ohaji/Egbema in IMHA “Excellent Award”, Hon. Marcel Amadioha as “Distinguished Leader” while the Imo State Commissioner for Lands, Hon. Enyinnanya Onuegbu was conferred “Ezienyi Ohaji”.
Sir. Mike Nwobi was honoured as “Distinguished Leader of the People”, Comr. Emmanuel Chinenye Ugorji as “Capacity Youth Leader “, Chief Fidelis Enyia as “Distinguished Leader of the People “, Chief Goddy Esom Obido as “Patron “, Chief Luke Chukwu “Distinguished Leader”, Hon. Elizabeth Jude “Woman of Substance”, Dr. Chinedu Ezenwa “Philanthropist”, Chief Dimkpa Enyia “Distinguished Leader”, Chief Reward Evans “Pillar of support”, Chief Nwadike Rowland Senibo “Pillar of Support”, and host of other awardees.
Also, President JohnCliff Ogbuehi declared Comr. Emmanuel Chinenye Ugorji as the NACOY BoT Chairman while the Ohaji Communities Youth Presidents made a special gift presentation to the newly inaugurated NACOY National President as a symbol of appreciation to his previous good deeds in Ohaji district especially as it relates to security and a show of support to the present NACOY administration.
Speaking earlier, the House of Representative member for Ohaji/Egbema -Oguta-Oru West Federal Constituency, Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu emphasized on his cordial relationship with Ohaji people, assured them of his continuous support and urged them to uphold their support for his reelection for more effective service delivering.
According to a goodwill message signed by the Executive Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Hon. Princes Marcel Amadioha, it read “I heartily congratulate Comrade John-Cliff Ogbuehi on your inauguration as the President of the National Congress of Ohaji Youths – NACOY. Your election is a reflection of the confidence our youths have in your capacity, integrity, and commitment to service. It also affirms your years of dedication to the advancement of Ohaji sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora.”
“As an administration, we recognize that the development of Ohaji/Egbema LGA will be driven largely by the energy, innovation, and leadership of our youths. At this critical time when our LGA is attracting strategic investments through the SAPZ, Agribusiness, Entrepreneurship, and Infrastructure projects, purposeful youth leadership is not optional, it is essential. I have no doubt that under your leadership, NACOY will become a formidable platform for youth empowerment and a key partner in the development agenda of Ohaji/Egbema LGA.
According to the PDP candidate for Ohaji/Egbema 2027 State Constituency election, Hon. John Nwaulu, “I heartily congratulate Comrd. JohnCliff Ogbuehi and the entire newly inaugurated 9th Executives of the National Congress of Ohaji Youths (NACOY) on this historic and remarkable occasion of your Inauguration. This inauguration represents not only the beginning of a new leadership journey but also a renewed call to service, unity, sacrifice and purposeful representation of the collective interests of the Ohaji youths.”

Addressing the Ohaji people, the 2027 PDP candidate for Imo West Senatorial district, Rt.Hon. Jones Onyereri, Ph. D who urged Ohaji people to support his ambition, congratulated “the President, Comr. Johncliff Ogbuehi, of the National Congress of Ohaji Youths (NACOY) and the executive members on their successful election and the inauguration of the 9th Executive Council, taking place today, 12th September 2026. This milestone is a testament to the organisation’s enduring commitment to youth leadership, unity, progress, and community development.”
“As the new executives assume the responsibility of steering the affairs of NACOY, I wish them wisdom, courage, strength, humility, and purposeful leadership. May their tenure bring renewed strength, greater unity, meaningful development in Ohaji and a stronger voice for the youths of Ohaji.
May God’s divine blessings of oil and gas upon your soil bring forth development, prosperity, and the individual betterment of all the sons and daughters of Ohaji. Congratulations to the 9th Executive.”
