Obodo Amaimo Celebrates ‘Obodo Day’ in Grand Style… as the Immediate Past Imo NUJ Chairman Chief Akaraonye Honoured

The 2022 Obodo Amaimo Day celebration was held on 2nd January 2022 with a huge turnout of Obodo Amaimo sons, daughters and their well wishers.

Speaking at the occasion, the president of Obodo Amaimo autonomous community, Engr. Placid Duru said the Obodo Amaimo Day celebration was in rememberance of the coronation of their traditional ruler, Eze Victor Chikezie Achionye who was coronated on the 2nd of January.

Engr.Duru said the event which is eight years now is celebrated every 2nd of January to mark the event.

He explained that the purpose of the event is to make a review of the achievements of the community and make proposal for projects for the new year.

The president general said they will use this years event to honour past president Generals of the community among whom was the immediate past chairman of Nigeria Union of journalists, chief Chris Akaraonye.

In his speech, the president of Amaimo progressive forum, Engr. Nnamdi Ihuoma, who was the special guests at the occasion said they are building a police station for their people.

This he said is part of their contribution for the security of their people and entire Amaimo community.

Engr. Ihuoma made this known in an interview with newsmen during Obodo day celebration in Amaimo, in Ikeduru Local Government Area, Imo State.

He said they hope to complete the divisional police headquarters which will be commissioned in no distance time and handed over to the Nigeria Police.

According to him, the Forum which is targeted towards building a united front for peace and development in the community have also given Scholarships to the indigenes of the community, offered community services, given loans to traders and also building educational platform with the aim of building Computer Based Test (CBT) center for their people.

The president of Amaimo progressive forum emphasized that they are building a security architecture that would create job for their indigenes and also secure their people as well.

Speaking at the occasion a
candidate for Ikeduru House of Assembly of the Labour Party, Engr Chuks Anaele enjoined the youths to make an informed decision on their choice candidate in the forthcoming election.

He noted that the decision they make would make or mar the country which is at the verge of collapsing economically.

Engr. Anaele opined that the legislator has an important role to play in governance and charged the legislators to wake up from slumber and exercise their authority in bringing positive governance to their people.

The traditional Ruler of Obodo Amaimo autonomous community, HRH Eze Victor Chikezie Achionye while welcoming the people thanked his people for their support since his coronation and promised that he will not fail them in discharging his duties as their Traditional Ruler.

Eze Victor Achionye enjoined the people of the community to be of good behaviour anywhere they are as good ambassadors of the community and warned the youths to avoid acts that will distroy their future.

He advised the people to support the president general and his executive as they are supporting his cabinet to enshrine good governance in the community.
