Nigeria To Host 2019 World Para Powerlifting Tournament
The International Para Powerlifting Committee (IPC) has granted Nigeria the hosting rights for the 2019 World Para Powerlifting Championships, with Lagos as the host city.
This was revealed in a confirmation statement addressed to the President of Nigeria Para Powerlifting Federation, Queen Uboh.
The statement was issued by Jorge Moreno, the Senior Manager of the International Paralympic Committee.
The statement read, “World Para Powerlifting would like to thank the Nigeria Paralympic Committee and the Nigeria Para Powerlifting Federation for their application to host the Nigeria 2019 International Para Powerlifting Competition from 28 – 30 January 2019 at the Lagos Oriental Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria.

“On behalf of the World Para Powerlifting, I am writing to confirm the approval of your competition application. World Para Powerlifting looks forward to working with you to finalise all the details and requirements as outlined in the application to host a very successful competition to heighten the success of Para Powerlifting in Nigeria and to further support the development of the sport across the region.”
The Nigeria Para Powerlifting Federation has confirmed that the country will host the tournament from January 28, 2019.
Nigeria is rated the best in the world para powerlifting and with this approval to host the 2019 World Championship, the country will work towards sustaining its presence and superiority in the sport.
