Ngige Under New Fire From Pensioners ||| NEWS CORNER
The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, has joined other affiliates of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, to accuse the Labour minister of supporting moves to split the body and form the Federal Parastatals and Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigeria, FEPPPRAN.
At a media briefing in Abuja the pensioners union urged the minister of Labour and the registrar of trade unions to be well guided by the provisions of the trade union acts, which prevents the registration of a new body where a similar one already exists.
The pensioners had approached the national industrial court seeking its intervention when one Temple Ubani sought to register the Federal Parastatals and Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigeria, FEPPPRAN, as another official body.
The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, said although the court threw out the matter, the initiator of the pension group is said to be lobbying officials at the Ministry of Labour and employment for Federal Parastatals and Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigeria, FEPPPRAN, to be registered.
