McNeil signs new Burnley deal

Dwight McNeil has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract at Burnley that will extend his stay at Turf Moor until June 2023.
The new deal, which has an option for Burnley to extend it by a further 12 months, comes following the 19-year-old’s breakthrough into the Clarets’ first team.
After making his debut during the final game of last season, McNeil has featured in ten matches for Burnley this campaign.
The winger has started Burnley’s last four Premier League matches – which have seen them take 10 points from the 12 available – and scored his first senior goal against West Ham last month.
McNeil, who joined Burnley from Manchester United in 2014, said: “A lot has happened in a short space of time and I’m happy to have signed a new deal. I hadn’t really thought this far ahead but I’m just happy it’s come so soon.
“I think I’ve taken my opportunity well and hopefully I can build on that. Hopefully I can stay in the team and really focus on this season.
“It’s a dream staying in the Premier League. It’s the best league in the world and you always want to stay and play in the Premier League.”
