Man-City, Burnley, Chelsea, others suffers shock
Manchester City were surprisingly defeated 3-2 by Crystal Palace at home on Saturday afternoon as they fell further behind Liverpool in the Premier League title race.
It was only the second defeat that was inflicted on the Citizens in their last 40 home Premier League games and is one that sees them fall four points behind table toppers Liverpool.
Things did get off to the ideal start for the home side when Ilkay Gundogan fired them in front on 27 minutes, but Jeffrey Schlupp levelled soon afterwards.
A stunning volley from Andros Townsend two minutes later put them in front and a penalty from Luka Milivojevic after the interval doubled their lead, much to the shock of the home support.
Although Kevin De Bruyne pulled one back with five minutes remaining, City couldn’t find a leveller in the closing stages, putting something of a sour taste on their Christmas turkey.
