GOAT 2025: Nigeria, Ghana Set for U-19 Football Showdown … Winner to Storm UK for Scouts’ Showcase

A non governmental and football promoting Organization, Game-On Afrika Limited has mapped out well planned modalities for its 2025 U-19 Game-On Afrika Tournament (G.O.A.T.) between qualified Nigeria and Ghana football clubs.
The Afreximbank-sponsored tournament according to the organizers, is aimed at discovering budding football talents across Nigeria and Ghana and showcasing them to the world.
The competition kicks off on October 4, 2025 for Nigeria across Four zones: Imo, Enugu, Lagos, and Abuja, as Ghana follows on 7th October, 2025 in Greater Accra, Oti, Central, and Ashanti regions.
Nigeria and Ghana best teams would have a home and away faceoff, after which the overall champion heads to the United Kingdom on an all-expenses-paid trip to face renowned English clubs before international scouts.
Nigeria’s winner gets ₦1 million naira, as the runner-up gets ₦500k while Ghana’s winner and runner-up takes 5,000 CFA and 3,000 CFA respectively.
However, registration for the tournament; is currently ongoing on www.gameonafrika.com with Entry fees of ₦50,000 for Nigerians and 1,000 CFA for Ghanaians.

Addressing football lovers in a press conference in Owerri recently, a Nigerian UK-based football administrator and Chief Executive Officer of Game-On Africa, Prince Emeka Nwankwo said the mission of GOAT is anchored on giving back to society, ending youth restiveness, creating tomorrow’s champions across boards while advancing community development as well as Nation building.
“We want to connect tribes through football and give back to society”, Nwankwo said.
Speaking also, the GOAT 2025 Project Coordinator, who doubles as the CEO of Imo Angels FC, Lady Jennifer Anusiem while noting that the tournament is “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for young footballers”, stressed that the idea of the competition is to create impact hence the best teams from Nigeria and Ghana will have to compete in a home and away final to qualify for the UK-Africa exchange.
“This ambassador, whether from Nigeria or Ghana, will have the rare privilege of playing against the best U-19 teams in the UK, with international scouts in attendance. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our youths under the Africa Exchange vision,” she noted.
Lady Anusiem however disclosed registration deadlines to be Tuesday, September 30th, 2025, for Nigeria, and Thursday, October 2nd, 2025 for Ghana.

Adding their voices, the Imo state Coordinator for GOAT 2025, Melvin Okore alongside his Enugu Counterpart, Coach Felis Nwosu said the tournament is open to football talents across Nigeria, who can participate through their nearest zonal centre, noting that the potentials of the tournament includes life-changing opportunities for young footballers to excel both nationally and internationally.
The duo said the added that holistic measures such as age checks and nationality using valid identity forms among other checks are in place to ensure fairness, transparency, and grassroots focus.
