Lockdown: Imo NYSC Presents Palliative Items to Less-privileged Children
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Imo has under its Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Scheme presented palliatives to the Nigerian Red Cross Motherless Babies Home in Owerri.
Mrs Favour Udonte, the Assistant Director, SAED, NYSC Imo, presented the items to the home on behalf of the State NYSC Coordinator Mr John Eloeboh.
Udonte said that the palliatives were in fulfillment of the NYSC scheme’s humanitarian gesture geared towards assisting the Federal Government in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic menace.
“The gesture is the first stage of the COVID-19 package from the Imo NYSC Secretariat, as selected corps members in the SAED department have been directed to intensify action in the production of hand sanitisers and face masks”
“The preventive materials will be presented to the COVID-19 Task Force or committee to be handed over to the good people of the state,” Udonte said.
Mrs Ogu Udoka, the Administrative Officer of the Nigerian Red Cross Motherless Babies Home received the gifts and expressed profound gratitude to the NYSC management for the humanitarian gesture.
She said the presentation was coming at a time when the state was under COVID-19 lockdown making it difficult for people to reach their organisation.
Udoka pledged that the donated items would be used for the exact reason it was donated, – as a palliative for feeding the children in the home during the lockdown in the state.
Our correspondent reports that the items presented to the children in the home include cartons of noodles, rice and biscuits.
