Jubilation As Onyegbula Clinches PDP Tickets For Orlu/Orsu and Oru East Federal Constituency
By Kennedy Nzerem.
Renowned entrepreneur and accomplished philanthropist, Chief Kingsley Onyegbula, has emerged victorious at the primary election of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, for Orlu/Orsu and Oru East Federal Constituency in Imo State which held at the Imo State Secretariat of the party in Owerri on Sunday. Onyegbula who polled a total of 75 votes to beat other contenders was therefore declared winner and returned elected as the 2023 flag bearer of the party.
It could be recalled that the National Working Committee of the PDP had annulled the earlier primary election for Orlu/Orsu and Oru East Federal Constituency following reported cases of irregularities and had accordingly ordered a fresh poll.
In his remarks before the commencement of the exercise, the Imo State Organizing Secretary of the PDP, Nze Law Biaduo, highlighted that the party places high importance on freeness, fairness, openness and credibility of its primaries, hence the need to organize the the entire process openly in the full glare of everyone. He also called on the agents to the aspirants to ensure they observe properly how the exercise would be conducted, so as to engender collective faith in the outcome.
Meanwhile, widespread jubilation has continued to sweep through many communities in Orlu, Orsu and Oru East in the aftermath of Onyegbula’s victory, with stakeholders describing his emergence as a true reflection of the expectations of the party faithful.
A PDP stalwart from Orlu who spoke on condition of anonymity averred that for decades Kingsley Onyegbula has run his Kingseoul Foundation through which he has touched thousands of lives. “With Kingsley on the ticket of the PDP, victory is assured for the party”, he said.
