Isreal: Trump announces opening of US Embassy in Jerusalem
The United States of America President, Donald Trump has today further extended a hand of friendship to Isreal and its neighbouring countries while announcing the official opening of US Embassy in Jerusalem, the new capital city of Israel in a recorded message.
This development followed his earlier declaration and acknowledgement of Jerusalem as the Israel’s capital on 6th December, 2017 after many years of negligence of his predecessors.
According to Trump, it has been exactly a 70-year dream come true of recognizing the Christians spiritual headquarters as the capital of the country.
He noted that the capital city was established by Jewish people long time ago and its the seat of Isreali government, legislature and Supreme Court adding that the Isreali Prime Minister and President lives there too.
“Exactly 70 years ago the United States under Harry Truman became the first nation to recognize the State of Israel. Today, we officially open the United States embassy in Jerusalem. Congratulations. It’s been a long time coming,” he said in a prerecorded video message.
“Almost immediately after declaring statehood in 1948, Israel designated the city of Jerusalem as its capital. The capital the Jewish people established in ancient times. So important,” Trump continued.
President Trump used the opportunity to the US Ambassador to Israel, Friedman goodluck, his colleagues and extend hands of friendship, Support and commitment in the course of freedom, peace and development to Israel and Palestine.
It’s also on record that almost after declaring independence in 1948, Israel designated Jerusalem as its capital city as a sovereign State.
