Imolites Angry Over Sun Governor Award on Uzodinma

The majority of Imo people have expressed worry over the recently SUN Governor award conferred on Governor Hope Uzodinma by the Sun Publications Company, calling it an unmerited feat and act of sycophancy.

With the award and celebrations surrounding it making rounds the media is faced with mixed feelings and reactions from Imo people who couldn’t bottle their opinions but tell to any listening ear.

Speaking on the award, a promising youth in the state, Emeka Ejezie said the timing of the award is very bad owing to security issues and concerns in the state, adding that the Governor being the Chief Security Officer of the state in the face of the ugly security developments is an impediment on the award.

He noted that the SUN award is a holistic award hence shouldn’t come at this time if the state governor has merited it by their yardstick.

Another Imolite, Mr John Uwalaka said the award seem politically motivated because the publisher was seen all over the awardee as if there is writing on the wall.

Mr Uwalaka stressed that everything shouldn’t be politicized especially the award which has stood out over the years and as well been widely celebrated.

Others who pleaded anonymity said the award is an act of agreement bothering on image laundering of both the awardee, Governor Hope Uzodinma, and the Publisher of the SUN Newspapers, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu since the 2023 election is by the corner.

They said the award was bought over for public name-clearing as the award speaks volumes of excellence to any awardee coming from a renowned national publication company.

The angry citizens went further to blame organizations Congratulating the Governor on the award, stressing that they are all sycophants, playing lip and eye service.

The people said the Governor should be focused to work instead of celebrating an award that has many criteria to fill.
