Imo Truck Drivers identify with NURTW, receive membership certificate
It was a moment of ecstasy for truck drivers in Imo State as they were formally welcomed and integrated as members of National Union Of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Imo State Chapter.

The event of the truck drivers integration as bonafide members of NURTW took place on Tuesday May 28, 2024, during the Union’s end of the month meeting, at the State Secretariat of the Union in Owerri.

Shortly after the unifying ritual and the presentation of the Union’s national certificate to the Chairman of the double axle drivers, the State Chairman of NURTW, Hon. Dr. Samuel Udeh (Ezeumuokorobia) commended the truck drivers for making the right decision and move of becoming part of them.
The number one driver in Imo admonished the double axle drivers to join force in building the Union and never to involve in things or do things that would jeopardize the progress of the association, which has so far under his leadership recorded huge success in the state.

Reacting, the Chairman of the truck drivers, Mr Franklin Onyewuchi Anyanwu, on behalf of the Secretary, Mr Ozd, Treasurer, Emeka Dimkpa and other members of the drivers with him, said they are elated to have finally found their root and be joined to their brothers of the wheel, adding that for over 10 years of operation in the state they have been on their own trying to pilot their affairs and form a trade union on their own but all efforts hit the rocks.
According to him “Honestly for long now, over 10years in operation in the state, we have tried to stand on our own as a trade Union, done all we could but found out that it wasn’t an easy task and that NURTW is the answer to our quest, reason we have come to become members and swear our allegiance, and we are very happy for the warm welcome and general acceptance.

Anyanwu described Hon. Udeh as a noble man with superb leadership expertise, hence pledged allegiance to his leadership, promising that they would never be caterpillars to the progress of the Union rather strong supporters of Udeh’s administration and vision of taking the Union to a more eviable height.
Similarly, he appreciated the good works of Governor Hope Uzodimma in the state, especially as it affects road infrastructure praying that God Almighty continues to guide and lead him to do more for the betterment of Imo people.
