Imo State House of Assembly Set to Investigate the University at Ogboko in Ideato South LGA
By Francis Emekwe
The State House of Assembly is to investigate the ownership of the University at Ogboko in Ideato South Local Government Area.

This followed a motion moved by the member for Aboh Mbaise, Chief Eddy Obinna and co-sponsored by the member for Owerri North State constituency Mr. Philip Ejiogu and his Ahiazu Mbaise counterpart, Mr. Otuibe Samuel.
The Chief Sponsor of the motion noted that the University at Ogboko was established by a law of the Imo State House of Assembly and that over five billion Naira Imo tax payer money was spent in building physical structures at the permanent state.
Chief Obinna expressed worry that the true ownership of the University has been shrouded in secrecy and prayed the House to urge the State governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha to verify the legal status and true ownership of the University and the actual financial involvement of the State government in the project as a matter of urgency.
He also wants the State government to verify whether any other third party contributed to its establishment to finally recover the university for the State if it is established that it was built with Imo State funds.
Another motion seeking the investigation of allegations of illegal and indiscriminate issuance of certificate of recognition to numerous traditional rulers in the State after May 29, 2019 was also presented to the House.
The Chief sponsored, Barr. Kennedy Ibeh representing the people of Obowo in the State House of Assembly prayed the Speaker, Dr. Chiji Collins to set up an adhoc committee to investigate the allegations of fake certificate of recognition to some traditional rulers after May 29.
The motion was seconded by Member representing Ehime Mbano State Constituency, Mr. Lawman Duruji.
When the Speaker put the motion into question, the ayes had it.
