Imo SDP: Anyanwu Dismisses Rift with Okey Ezeh
SAYS: MISCHIEF-MAKERS TRYING TO CREATE IMAGINARY WAR BETWEEN FATHER AND SON
By Ikenna Obiwuru, OWERRI
An Imo SDP chieftain, Dr. Casmir Anyanwu has distanced himself from any publication purporting that he is in any form of dispute with the governorship candidate of the party, Sir Okey Ezeh, over the ticket of the party. He added that he is fully aware of the antics of some elements within the PDP who are jittery over the success which awaits the SDP at the polls and as a result try very hard to create an imaginary battlefield in the party.
Addressing newsmen in Owerri on Thursday, the former Managing Director of the defunct Progress Bank said the first duty of every disciplined party man is to show unflinching loyalty to the party hierarchy. His words, “Loyalty is a sign of trust and affirmation of the wisdom of the leadership to work in the overriding interest of the party.”
Anyanwu also said the coming of Okey Ezeh into the SDP has repositioned the party for victory, and wondered why some people who he described as “kleptomaniac characters” would sit in their covens and imagine a war in the SDP which to them is a precondition for their political survival.
“We have no problem in the SDP, and those who pray and wait for problems in our party shall wait in vain. Okey Ezeh is my son. I have so much respect for him, and I have never doubted his capacity to change the situation in Imo State. Whatever issue I might have about his emergence as the governorship flag bearer of our party is purely a family affair which I believe will be resolved amicably,” Anyanwu assured.
He regretted that politics in Imo has been reduced to an all-comers affair, and queried the leadership credentials of some candidates who are angling for the gubernatorial seat. According to him, in saner climes some of the candidates should be in jail and not on the ballots.
He further called on the Imo electorate to turn out en masse to vote the SDP so as to create a prosperous Imo for everyone.
