The Hon. Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire and his Minister of State counterpart, Hon. Joseph Ekumankama will be in Owerri this Friday for the unveiling of the Federal University Teaching Hospital, formerly (FMC) and the commissioning of signature projects built by the federal government.

The Chief Guest of Honor and Chief Host is the Governor, distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma. This is sequel to the amendment of the law and its signing by the President in November, 2022.

The federal University Teaching Hospital, Owerri is one of the busiest health facility in Nigeria with over 300,000 patients seen annually. As a teaching hospital, we have the clinical capacity to attend to our patients .These medical and para medical personnel are trained and retrained regularly. Obsolete equipments are replaced with Hi-tech ones. In short, the federal university teaching hospital is good to go.

This quantum leap couldn’t have been possible if not for the harmony that exist in the place and the open door policy adopted by the Management. Through prudent management of scarce resources, Dr Kingsley Achigbu and his Management team have been able to turn around the fortunes of the Teaching Hospital to play its tripartite mandate of Training, Research and Rendering health care services to our people.

No doubt, the upgrading of the Federal Medical Center to a Federal University Teaching Hospital and the provision of these very important infrastructures, shows the premium, President Buhari places on the health and well being of the citizenry.
With these facilities in the place and highly motivated staff, the health care delivery services in the state and it’s environs will be tremendously improved. Kudos the the Governor for creating the enabling environment for excellence to thrive in the state.
