Imo Police Command parade over sixty criminal suspects
The Imo State Police has paraded over sixty criminal suspects on crimes bothering on kidnapping/Armed robbery, cultism, child trafficking and unlawful possession of firearms.


Briefing newsmen at the Police Headquarters in Owerri, the Commissioner of Police Mr. Chris Ezike disclosed that between January and February this year the Command had recorded modest achievements in crime prevention, management and detention.

Mr. Ezike said worthy of note was the arrest of the notorious kidnapper/armed robber, Collins Okoronkwo alias e-money now deceased and one Pastor Benjamin Ndieze who is the officiating Pastor of Deliverance Home of Comfort Assembly, Ihiagwa in Owerri West Local Government Area who had been operating under the guise of false pretence through false prophecy and defrauding most members of the Church.
The Commissioner of Police stated that its approach this year would be focused on sustaining police visibility in highways and neighbourhood, arrest of high profile suspects, and maintaining robust provision of security to financial institutions to prevent attacks by hoodlums.
Mr. Ezike maintained that the Command would strenghten its Police/Community partnership to enhance its crime control and management.

One of the suspects, Pastor Benjamin Ndieze who confessed to the crime of false prophecy disclosed that before his arrest he had arranged with one Blessing Ahamefula of Ihie Orji Umuonyaogu Ngwa road, Aba in Abia state to come to his Church at Ihiagwa with her little five years old daughter named faith.
He said upon receiving the baby he handed little Faith unto a member of his Church Emmanuel Onuoha with an order for him to drop the girl at NNPC filling Station at Control post Owerri.
He disclosed that during service and Prophecy session, he prophesied that there was a woman in the congregation who was looking for her five year old daughter that was kidnapped from Aba by her Uncle, and that the baby girl had been taken to Onitsha preparatory to be taken to Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
The false prophet said that by his powers and prayers that the kidnappers and ritualists would drop and abandone the baby girl at NNPC Control Post, Owerri, and that all his members who wanted to witness the power of God should go to NNPC filling station.
He said he was then apprehended by the police upon investigation when the members of the Church were shouting kidnappers while others were raising alarm of cultism.
Items recovered from the suspects included five vehicles, one motorcycle, two hundred and thirty seven catchment of ammunition, magazines, live cartridges, cartridge belt, double barrel gun, AK 47 rifles, English pistols, pump action and locally made guns.
