Imo NUJ Swears in New Excos
The Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Imo Council on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 sworn in their newly elected Executive Council Members at the Council’s Secretariat, Port Harcourt Road, Owerri.
The event which marks the beginning of a new administration for pen pushers in state for over four months had the NUJ National Executives present who led the oath taking exercise, swearing in and presentation of certificate of return to the state Excos.

Swearing in the new Executives, the Senior Assistant National Secretary of NUJ, Gbemiga Bamidele alongside the NUJ Zonal Vice President Zone C represented by the Zonal Secretary, Kenneth Ofoma charged the new Excos to enhance the already high profile of journalism in the state and ensure that NUJ in Imo state continues to remain one family.
The New Chairman of NUJ, Imo state Council, Chief Chris Akaraonye while receiving his certificate of return from the National leaders of the Union promised to carry every one along & reunite all those aggrieved in any way.

Members of the Executive Council in the Union include Emma Odibo – Vice Chairman, Juliet Dim- Secretary, Johnkennedy Uzoma -Assistant Secretary.

Others include Chidi Opara-Treasurer, Ifeanyi Nwanguma – Financial Secretary, Longinus Anyanwu -Auditor.
Recall that the election which was initially slated for July 14 2018 was stalemated because some chapels failed to pay their check off dues leading to the constitution of a Caretaker Committee which held sway till date.
Before now two futile attempts were made to conduct the election resulting in disagreements & the false impression that Imo NUJ was in factions.
