Imo Journalists Urge Uzodimma To Reappoint Emelumba, Say He is Professionalism Personified
Guild of Newspaper Reporters Imo State Chapter, a body for all Imo Based newspaper reporters, recognized by the leadership of NUJ both at state and national level has called on Imo State Governor, Dist. Senator Hope Uzodimma to reappoint Hon. Declan Emelumba as information Commissioner, stating that he is a symbol of professionalism and a classic example of what a commissioner of information should be.
A statement signed by the State Chairman of Guild of Newspaper Reporters, Comrade Chuks Nwokeji, described Hon. Emelumba as a seasoned media professional who has proven his mettle with uniqueness and unquestionable competence in information diseminstion on Programs and policies of Shared Prosperity Administration of the governor.
The press statement rated Emelumba high in commitment to duty, character and conduct and states that he was not found wanting in the discharge of his duties.
It further reads; Emelumba is a symbol of professionalism, he was highly strategic, all his response to issues raised by opposition against Governor Uzodimma led administration in the state were straight to the point, without tantrums or sentiments.
Emelumba did well in his first tenure, the governor should disregard the so called caution from any media group to replace him with an expert as there was no atom of quackery or substandard practice in his actions and inactions as information Commissioner. He can be described as a tested and trusted media guru who lived above board in the discharge of his duties.
He tried his best to carry journalists along in the scheme of things, under him as a commissioner, a media award was instituted for Imo Based Journalists, this is the first of its kind and it has helped many Journalists in the state”
The guild also scored the governor high for appointment of Chief Fidel Onyeneke, stating that he proved his mettle as a sound mind and did very well in orientation, sensitization and public englitenment.
They noted the manner he answered questions at various radio programs he appeared in defense of government activities, no matter how provocative and complex it appeared, were professional, strategic, full of convictions, worthy of commendation and emulation.
Convinced that Chief Onyeneke did well as Special Adviser on Orientation, the umbrella body of Newspaper Reporters in Imo State made case for his reappointment as a reward for a job well done.
