Imo Journalists Jubilate As Emelumba Returns …Well deserved reappointment-Nwanguma, Imo NUJ Chairman
By Prisca Nguzo…

There is massive jubilation and celebration among journalists in Imo State following the reappointment of Hon. Declan Emelumba as a Commissioner by the state governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma.
Emelumba, immediate past Commissioner of Information and Strategy was among the twelve Commissioner Nominees successfully screened by the state House of Assembly under the speakership of Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe on Thursday March 7, 2024.
There is high expectation as media practitioners in the state are clamouring and appealing to the governor to reassign the Information and Strategy portfolio to Emelumba.
Congratulating Hon. Emelumba on his successful screening, the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Imo state Council, Comrade Ifeanyi Nwanguma noted that his re-appointment is well deserving; coming at a time the government needed to consolidate on developmental projects and programmes for Imolites hence the need to bring on board cabinet members who have distinguished themselves on previous assignments with the 3R administration.
“Congratulations on your well deserved reappointment Sir. Your return is a further testament of your capacity, diligence and support for Imo government, Imolites and Imo Journalists in particular”
Comrade Nwanguma further expressed hope for a better outing “as to whom much is given, much is expected of”, adding that “Hon. Emelumba is a go-getter who have lived up to expectations of Imo Journalists in areas of visibility, empowerment and more and will roundly do more going forward”
According to the journalists, “Emelumba diligently discharged his responsibility as the Information Commissioner in the first tenure to the overall interest and well-being of Imo citizens especially the media practitioners.”
“There is no doubt that he (Emelumba) deserves another opportunity to serve Imolites as a Commissioner and because he performed well as the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, we pray and appeal to the governor to reassign him the portfolio.” Uchechi Madu said.
