Imo House of Assembly Resumes Sitting with Special Prayers Unto God
The Imo State House of Assembly today, Tuesday, September 26, 2023, resumed sitting and legislative activities in ernest, after a period of recess.
Declaring the house open for business, following announcement by the clerk of the house and head, legislative unit, Barr Mrs Chinelo Emeghara that majority of the members were present, the Speaker of the house, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe directed that special prayer be offered to God.
The lawmakers who were led in the First-Day-of-business special prayer by a Clergy Man, Apostle Paul Emeka Chetachi of Omega Power Ministry (OPM), thanked God for all-round protection throughout the period of the recess and for the opportunity to come back to office. The lawmakers further, prayed God to continue to protect and prosper Imo State and grant them the wisdom to render quality and life-transforming service to the people.
Proceeding, the house presented two bills for consideration namely, a bill for a law to further amend the Imo state Public Procurement Law No 12 of 2021 which was billed for second reading and a bill for a law to amend the Imo State College of Education Law No 11 of 2021. The two bills however, were adjourned to the next sitting on October 3, 2023.
Meanwhile, the member for Ikeduru State Constituency in the house of assembly, Hon. Johnleoba Iheoha has applauded the leadership of the legislative house for deeming it wise to accommodate a special prayer as part of resumption activities after their first recess thus, seeking the face of God in prayers, while the member for Ideato South State Constituency and deputy minority leader in the house, Hon Ichie Vitalis Azodo gave Kudos to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe as well as the Clerk of the House, Barr Mrs Chinelo Emeghara for ensuring that the members resumed sitting on clean, peaceful and conducive atmosphere.
According to Ichie Vitalis Azodo, the best way to start any human venture is by going to God in prayers.
