Imo Guber: Dr Chino Okpara Picks YPP Ticket …Promises a New Working Imo

Renowned Technocrat, humanitarian per excellence and the Chief Executive Officer of Kemdi Chino Okpara Foundation, Dr. Kemdi Chino Okpara has been nominated the standard flag bearer of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) Imo State chapter in the forthcoming 11th November 2023 guber polls.

Dr. Kemdi Okpara was nominated at a well attended 166 delegate fiber primary election held at Links Hotels Owerri and keenly observed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on Monday 17th April 2023.

The primary election presided over by the National Working Committee (NWC) led by the National Secretary of the party, Comrade Vidiyeno Bamaiyi in collaboration with Imo YPP State Working Committee led by Hon. Victor Diala as well as the State Primary Election Planning Committee (SPEPC) chaired by Hon. David Achinulo recorded a huge success as 145 out of 166 delegates (including 26 SWC members) affirmed the party’s concensus decision for Dr. Okpara in a seamless Option A4 voting pattern.

In their remarks, the Chairman SPEPC, Hon. David Achinoulo who spoke alongside the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Victor Diala stressed that YPP has come to rescue Imo from the hands of political jobbers by presenting “a personality with character and address, reach and contact as well as a servant leader”

Hon. Diala added that the coming of Dr Chino Okpara is God-destined to save Imolites from a failed state characterised by insecurity, noting that the State have never had it right since the time of former Governor Dee Sam Mbakwe hence “the party has presented the best among equals for the governorship job”

Declaring Dr. Okpara as the flag bearer of Imo YPP, the National Secretary of the party, Hon. Vidiyeno Bamaiyi said “the election was not contested but conducted in full compliance with the rule of law which empowers the party to hold primaries to allow the party delegates have their say in the election and affirmation of the party’s only aspirant as the candidate of the party”

“Having certified the YPP Primary Election Guidelines of the Elecroral Act: scoring 145 delegates votes out 166 ; Dr. Kemdi Chino Okpara is hereby declared the standard flag bearer of Imo YPP in the November 11, 2023 guber polls.

In his acceptance speech, the Imo YPP guber candidate, Dr. Kemdi Chino Okpara promised a new Imo of inclusion adding hope is underway to tackle insecurity, economic and infrastructural decay with the help of all Imolites.

Dr. Kemdi Okpara stressed that his aim of running for the guber race is to change the ugly narratives by bringing real democracy dividends packed with human capital development initiatives.

He however urged Imolites to vote him at the polls in order not to give economic bastardization, hardship, recklessness and insecurity that have enveloped the State a chance of re-occurrence.

“I have come to be your Governor; your servant leader and the governor who will always listen to you as a visionary leader to change the ugly narratives”

Giving vote of thanks on behalf of Imo YPP, the party’s State Woman Leader, Hon. Chika Uju expressed appreciation to the NWC, SWC and SPEPC members as well as INEC Observers among other stakeholders for their cooperation.

She noted that YPP Imo State is on the right track to take over Douglas House to effect a responsive and responsible leadership in the state, adding that “Imo State will be delivered from bad governance”.
