Gov Okorocha Appeals Imolites To Contrast His 8yrs Achievements With Predecessors.
The governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has appealed to indigenes of the State and even visitors who are in the State at the moment for the Christmas to make out time to verify his repeated claim that his achievements as governor in less than 8 years have superseded the achievements of all those who had governed the State before him put together, and see whether the claim is a lie or a statement of fact.
The governor asked that they should look at Owerri, the State Capital and see whether there have been tremendous changes in infrastructural development, road network and total transformation, and remarked that they should not forget that the same Owerri that is now expanding very fast, had before 2011 stopped at where Concord Hotel is located.
The governor said his administration has more than one thousand verifiable projects to its Credit with more than 800 kilometres of urban roads and 1,400 kilometers of rural roads, Six new Universities including University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences Aboh-Mbaise / Ngor-Okpala, Eastern Palm University Ideato South, University of Creative Technology Isaku/Nkwerre, University of Medical Sciences Ogboko, Marine University Oguta and University of Science and Technology Onuimo. Four Polytechnics located at Ehime Mbano, Orlu, Ahiazu Mbaise and Arondizuogu and Colleges of Education located at Ihitte-Uboma, Ohaji/Egbema respectively.
The free education programme of the administration has equally worked well with the attendant results, with the School enrolment in the State now being at more than one million against 280,000 in 2011, while the State has led in JAMB applications from 2012 to 2018.
Again, for the first time, the State can boast of two tunnels, two flyovers, five in-land roads in Owerri, 8 and 12 lanes’ roads in the State Capital, twenty-seven hospitals with one in each of LGAs, and too many other projects that cannot be mentioned now, and that being the reason for appealing to those who came back for the Christmas to investigate this claim that the governor has achieved more than all those who had governed the State before him put together. He thanked God that the State has remained peaceful.
