APGA CRISIS: We’ll Quarantine Edozie Njoku – Party Chieftain
By Emma Emenike.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Prince Collins Opurozor, has debunked media reports that there is leadership crisis in the party. He instead maintained that APGA is the most united, peaceful and focussed political party in Nigeria.
Opurozor, who spoke to newsmen in Owerri on Thursday, insisted that the leadership of Dr. Victor Oye as national chairman of APGA is not under any form of contestation, and added that anyone who thinks otherwise is politically sick and must be quarantined.
“APGA has neither crisis nor factions. It is one big family under Dr. Victor Ike Oye. Indeed, some sick characters had approached the court, attempting to come into the leadership of the party through the back door. But the Court of Appeal in Ibadan has given judgment against them, and upheld the leadership of Dr. Oye.
“But is it not bizarre for people who are never members of the party to go to court asking to be declared leaders of the party? When you see those mischief makers, particularly Edozie Njoku and Mic Adams, you will realize they are very sick. And you know the first thing to do to sick animals is to quarantine them. That is exactly what we will do,” he vowed.
The Ideato-born media expert also revealed the motive behind the crisis in the party. According to him, “Are you not aware that Dr. Oye has acquired a multi billion Naira permanent secretariat for the party in Abuja? This is one of the things that have brought envy and jealousy, and Edozie Njoku and his sponsors wish to see if they would grab the party even if for one day so they can sell off the property and run away with the money,” he said.
Opurozor also called on members of the party in Imo State to come out en masse to support the candidate of the party for the forthcoming Imo North senatorial by-election, Charlse Onyirimba, who he described as the most competent and credible to offer quality representation to the people.
