GOMEP Seeks Stronger Partnership with Presidency, Commends Tinubu’s Reform Agenda
Abuja — The Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG) has pledged to deepen collaboration with the Federal Government in advancing responsible journalism and national development, while commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as his bold leadership and far-reaching economic reform agenda.
The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by a GOMEP-NG delegation, led by its National President, Comrade Otiti Akpovoke, to the Presidency in Abuja.

Receiving the delegation on behalf of President Tinubu, Mohammed Idris conveyed the President’s appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to maintaining a productive partnership with online media organisations in promoting responsible journalism, national development and effective public enlightenment.

Speaking during the visit, Akpovoke commended President Tinubu for reengineering the nation’s economic architecture, noting that while the reforms may require time before their full benefits are realised, they reflect courageous leadership and a clear commitment to repositioning Nigeria’s economy.

He said GOMEP-NG envisions a structured and sustainable partnership with the Federal Government to strengthen strategic communication, improve timely dissemination of government policies and programmes, and promote credible online journalism.
According to him, the Guild remains committed to complementing the efforts of the Federal Government through professional and responsible digital media practice, adding that the proposed collaboration would also serve as an empowerment initiative for online media practitioners by creating opportunities for capacity development, professional growth and greater inclusion of qualified practitioners within the digital media ecosystem.

A major highlight of the visit was the presentation of GOMEP-NG’s strategic partnership proposal to the Presidency, alongside the conferment of the Guild’s Excellence Awards on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, in recognition of their contributions to governance and public communication.
