Fight Against COVID-19 Pandemic: Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide Urges Nigerians to Support Buhari
Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide, a socio-cultural Youth Organisation, has urged all Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari as he strives to curtail and eradicate COVID-19 in Nigeria.

In a statement signed by the Secretary- General of the Assembly, Comr. Casmir Nnadozie Irekamba, “as the World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared Coronavirus a Global Pandemic, Nigerians have no other option than to unite and support the Federal Government efforts to prevent, manage and curtail the virus. Failure to do so could result to serious health and economic emergency”
IYA Worldwide is however “reassuring that the Minister for Health, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and the NCDC are cordially synegizing to combating this strange virus.
“Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide wishes to remind Nigerians that playing politics with this virus will do more harm than good, as the virus is already attacking citizens across party lines.
“IYA Worldwide urges Nigerians to comply strictly to the Presidential directives on restriction of movement, social distancing, improved personal hygiene and regular hand washing.
The Assembly “has however, regrettably observed some actions of supposedly enlightened persons, whose actions are capable of constituting huge set back to Government efforts to combating this virus.
How can any well meaning Nigerian be discouraging the masses from obeying the Presidential directives on restriction of movement which is one of the ways recommended by WHO and also applied by other Nations that have proven very effective in curtailing the spread of Coronavirus in the guise of legal principles;
How can there be legal principles devoid of concern for public safety, citizens life and well being.
“We urge the so-called experts to channel their abilities for public good by sensitizing the masses on the need to indulge in the acts that will curtail the spread of the virus as contained in the President Buhari’s directives. By so doing they would have saved innocent lives”.
Irekamba did not mince his words as he “condemned the hike in the prices of food items and other essential commodities particularly in the southern Nigeria.
We urge Nigerians to indulge in the acts capable of promoting the unity, peace and progress of the country”, saying “United we stand and divided we fall”.
Irekamba maintained that “Nigeria is our only God given country and we have much more things to benefits as a united and progressive entity”.
“Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide therefore call on all men and women of goodwill to continue to pray for our country, Nigeria. And God’s willing we shall overcome our challenges”.
