Emenyuonu Declares For Imo Guber, Assures Restoration, Enabling Environment For A New Imo
BY ThankGod Emeh…
A promising gubernatorial aspirant in the forthcoming Imo 2023/24 Governorship election under the Young Progressives Party, YPP, Hon. Emeka Emenyuonu has assured Imolites of creating enabling environment for sound education, health, sustaining agriculture, Social welfare, thriving businesses as well as Security of lives and property if elected.
Hon. Emenyuonu stated these on Wednesday October 5, 2022 while declaring his intention to run for the number one elective position in the state at YPP Secretariat, Port Harcourt Road, New Owerri amidst YPP leaders, members and number of supporters across the state including student bodies.
The outspoken aspirant who decried the high level of unemployment and poverty stressed that “poverty has been weaponized by politicians” to deprive the citizens their right especially during elections but demanded that Imolites hold him accountable of his words as he has come to “unify Imo state, regain citizen’s Confidence in government and carry out a thorough healing and cleansing” of the land so as to return peace and safety in the state.
Hon. Emenyuonu while unvealing his Seven (7) point agenda as Trade/Commerce and Industry; Agriculture; Education; Sports/Entertainment and Tourism; as well as Social Welfare; Security and Health said he will ensure that educational institutions in the state are self-funded to make students self reliant and productive after school noting that “it is only when our students are skilled that crime will reduce in society” while charging Imolites to monitor and safeguard their environment as his government when elected will commit all efforts and modern machinery at stopping crimes before they are committed in the state.
“Our Universities are crying of poor funding but were they handicapped to be productive in any way. It is not acceptable to us where they are training our children to be productive in society yet do not have practical industries in schools”
“We will make the school self funded that if you can’t fund yourselves, you shut down as we will no longer train engineers who cannot repair vehicles or that will erect buildings and they will collapse and before any student graduates from the University, he or she must have a proficiency skill, must go through train test otherwise remain there. And we cannot waste twelve years of our children’s life teaching them how to draw Cockroach without achieving anything with it. So it is high time we changed it”
“There are digital business skills that will earn you #10,000 every day from the comfort of your home with a data of #200. One of the skills we will teach is that as long as you have access to phone, you will have access to money because poverty has become a weapon in the hands of politicians but if our students starts earning early, the politicians can no longer weaponize poverty”, Hon. Emenyuonu added.
On security, he said “In modern day security, information gathering is security where we deploy drones to fly overhead to be gathering security information while the police and other agencies will have computer centres where they will be watching so that what you do is stop the crime before it is committed”
“We will ensure that that every border town in our state has a thriving market that will make that place ever busy because it is through the border centres that crimes are committed and these market will ensure that we have influx of people from the other neighbouring states where their money will come into our state”
Hon. Emeka Emenyuonu who expressed extreme passion for women and their role in society and as well frowned at the way they are being relegated, said the women population will be nurtured to have better living conditions as “they are really struggling out there”
“We will ensure that our women don’t suffer and die without reaping the fruits of their Labour because when I remember the suffering of my mother and that today she couldn’t even take a cup of water from the success of her son, it is really painful”
“We want to ensure that we nurture our women by putting institutions in place, make laws that will ensure they have a better life because women are struggling out there as I know many people I left when I was selling pure water at Ariaria market and each time I pass there, I still see many of them struggling and I feel very bad because all they need to change their lives is the right information. Information is what changes a man from poverty to wealth. Teach him what to do and let him apply it and that is what we are going to do”
He said he is well prepared with the party to take over the leadership of the state at the polls to change all the ugly narratives in the state by providing democracy dividends to the people adding that “no blood will be spilled in the process”
In his remarks, the Chairman of Young Progressives Party, YPP Imo State Chapter, Hon. Victor Diala expressed satisfaction over Hon. Emenyuonu’s choice of party, declaration of interest, and speech where he has stamped his vision and mission to government house in the heart of Imolites .
Hon. Diala charged him not to relent in engaging the people as the day go by into the elections as the power lies in their hands while noting that YPP is the only party out of the eighteen (18) registered political parties across the country that uses option A4 to elect its flag bearers.
He said, “The National Chairman does not influence the nomination of a councilor anywhere as far as YPP is concerned”
“On this note, I encouraged you that this is just the beginning of the beginning…don’t ever loose hope and trust in this political Party as we create a level playing ground for everybody. I don’t care where the person is coming from and it is a good note that Imolites whom you want to serve have seen you and have heard you”
The YPP Chairman emphasized that votes are seriously counted now in line with the Electoral Law in the country hence gone are the days of rigging and many other electoral malpractices.
