Chika Uju.
His Royal Highness, Eze Barr Chijioke .J. Okwara IV, ( Eshi of Nkwerre), traditional ruler of Nkwerre and Deputy Chairman, Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, has extended his Easter Message to Nkwerre people.
He prayed for God’s guidance and protection on his subjects and entire Nkwerre people especially as Covid 19 pandemic shakes the fabric that holds the world.
Eshi who spoke to journalists through Chief Engr. Uwas Nnadozie (Urunwanne1 of Nkwerre) and Chairman, Nkwerre Traditional Ruling Council, at his Palace, on Friday, reflected that Good Friday was the awesome day Christ shaded his precious blood on the Cross as atonement for sins on humans with transgression as He rose from the dead on Easter Sunday thereby unveiling the greatest power ever known to mankind which is The Power of Resurrection.
Eshi while praying for Nkwerre people to be covered and protected by this unimaginable power even at this time of Covid-19 pandemic, felicitated with them during the Easter.
He urged them to “Stay Safe. Stay at home and enjoy the ritual of the commemoration of the Resurrection of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ this Easter from the comfort of your homes. Observing the concept of Social Distancing and hygiene to live healthy is germane”
Eshi, who is digitalised in traditional rulership and conventional affairs having natural intelligence, being innovative, used the medium to thank Umu Nkwerre for harkening to his Social Service call in order to help to provide succor to the weak and poor of Nkwerre land, as they are suffering at home due to coronavirus.
Eshi thanked persons who donated to the Villages and prayed God to replenish their purses in multiple fold.
Eshi explained that he read the lists at Nnon and Nkwerre Council of Chiefs fora, recently while some Villages who do not have access to these fora sent him hard copies at his Palace.
He stressed that “the Statistics so far shows 70% compliance”, inviting the remaining villages to join the bandwagon.
“Let the needy in our respective villages benefit from the rich in this perilous time”, he pleaded.
He equally called on Imo citizens to comply to government directives in order to save their lives and that of others, advising them to be their brothers keepers at this critical moment of Covid 19 and believing that everything will end in praise.
Eshi who spoke briefly in vernacular added: “Chim gozierem unu nile. Ukwu ojoo a gahu akpo unu. Onye ishi unu n’awa aja, ya were ke ya tinye”
“Covid 19 and indeed any Virus will not consume any of us in the most Powerful Name of Jesus. Amen”.
