The Archbishop of Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, His Grace, Most Rev Alfred Adewale Marins has sanctioned the priest in charge of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ewu-awa, Ikorodu, Rev Fr. James Anelu over “unacceptable comments about Igbo songs being sung in the Church” as well as inciting words about the Igbo people.
In view of the above, Rev Fr. James Anelu has been asked to proceed on an indefinite leave of absence so as to save the church as well as launch a full-scale investigation into his activities in the church.
According to the Disclaimer Letter signed by the Archbishop, the Infinite Leave of Absence starts Tuesday 8th February 2022.
He urged all Catholic faithful to be more steadfast as everything is under control.

Rev Fr. James Anelu added that the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ewu-awa, Ikorodu would not be “the case of his Benin Diocese where Igbos dominate to the point of becoming the Bishop in the person of Akubueze.
