Bayelsa 2019: Governorship Candidate Condemns Use of Military During Election
Candidate of the Accord Party for Bayelsa 2019 governorship election, Mr Diriyai Ebizimor, has called on the military to steer clear from the November election in the State.
Ebizimor made the call while interacting with newsmen in Owerri on Monday.
The legal practitioner expressed confidence that the election would be peaceful, free and fair, adding that Bayelsa is not at war and would not need military presence during the poll.
He further expressed faith in the ability of the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct free and fair poll while advising registered voters who are yet to collect their PVCs to do so within their stipulated time.
According to him, “we already have a military formation in Bayelsa and they are on the top of their job. We are not at war and we do not need deployment of military for the election.
” I strongly believe that the INEC will not fail us; hopefully the process will be peaceful, so I advise all registered voters to collect their PVCs, cast and defend their votes on election day”.
He however assured his supporters that he would keep faith with the Accord Party and help build the party whether or not he won the election as according to him, every party has a starting point.
“I do not intend to crosscarpet after the polls unless the Accord Party decides to merge with another party. I believe that all party members have to join hands to build the party to be able to win elections.
” The ruling party at the centre used to be an opposition party, but today they are in the mainstream. So, we can achieve same result “, he enthused.
He pledged to work assiduously if elected governor of Bayelsa to make the state the glory of all lands and solve her problems without blaming previous administrations.
