August Meeting: Umudibia Women Calls for Unity, Assistance on Community Project

Umudibia Women Association had successfully held their 2019 annual August Women Meeting geared to effect unity, peace and development of Umudibia Township.

The grand finale of the meeting which was held recently at Umudibia Primary School, Umudibia Township (City of Righteousness), Owerri West local government area, Imo State, had the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri, Engr. Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa, the Chairman, Owerri West LGA, Hon Innocent Ekemma, the Traditional Ruler of Umudibia community, Eze Godwin Merenini ( Dibia 1), and his wife, Ugoeze Joy alongside other good meaning people from across the state gracing the event.

The meeting involved women from both home and abroad who were finely, uniformly dressed, drawn from the four (4)villages: Umuofocha, Umuerim, Umuokomoche and Umuokoto that make up Umudibia Community.

Presenting an address, the President- General, Umudibia Women Association, Lady Mrs Ijeoma Onyenaobi(JP), solicited financial assistance from all well-to-do individuals from the community and Owerri West in extension to enable the women complete their Ultra Modern Civic Centre Project.

“Our proposed Hall Project is estimated to cost millions of naira. We shall not be deterred by the cost estimation because the socio- economic value we shall derive when completed is high. We therefore solicit for your financial assistance to enable us carryout this building project”.

Onyenaobi noted that a lot has been achieved by the Umudibia Women Association on their August Meeting Conferences to include Peace which she said had brought growth and meaningful development to the community, as well as visited and prayed for sick members for their quick recovery plus members who lost their husbands with their due rights given to them.

” We have ejected infiltrators believed to be Hausa elements who occupied some of the rooms of our Health Centre. Our Health Centre now renders full maximum service at all times. It is worthy to know that we have acquired a site to build a Modern Civic Centre that will stand the taste of time. We need the help of all and sundry. Umudibia Women Association had been one of the proactive women organizations in Owerri West”, Lady Ijeoma highlighted.

Interim Committee Chairman of Owerri West LGA, Hon Innocent Ekemma, who was represented by Hon Emenyeonu Finan Onyewuchi and the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri, Engr Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa hailed the women for their initiative on building Modern Civic Centre and pledged their total support.

The highlight of the occasion was the conferment of Award of Honour on some distinguished members on their sterling contributions to the growth of their families, community and the association.
