Amb Uju Bags Media Icon of the Year Award from Arise Africa Magazine

An Owerri based journalist and politician, Amb Chika Uju, has bagged ‘Media Icon of the Year’ Award from Arise Africa Magazine.

The Award Ceremony was held on Saturday at the Benchmark Hotel, Ikenegbu, Owerri, with many personalities of Africa origin being equally honored on their sterling performance on youth development and society edification.

Presenting the award to Amb Chika Uju, the Chief Executive Officer, Arise Africa Magazine, Mr Ikechukwu Anyanwu, said the Merit Award was rooted from her vision, enterprise and contributions to youth development and media industry.

Anyanwu explained that Arise Africa Magazine is “aimed at creating the right platform for our youth to be empowered through our intensive entrepreneurial skills”, saying one of the best ways to raise successful future African generation is to imbue youths with the spirit of love and unity.

Appreciating Arise Africa Magazine for the recognition, Amb Chika Uju, who is the Nigerian Union of Journalists Program Officer 1 and News Editor, Starpost Express Newspaper, said the honor would spur her to more work for African youths.

According to her, “I am glad although words failed me. I appreciate Arise Africa Magazine for its kind gesture which I never bargained for. Thanks to those who nominated me. I never knew that people are watching my back. May God bless you all and also remember you”.

She dedicated the award to God Almighty for seeing her through in all things, to her family and Imo NUJ for being there for her.

Amb Chika Uju holds degree on Government and Public Administration from Imo State University, Owerri and studied journalism at International Institute of Journalism, Abuja.

She is currently the notable Woman Leader of the Young Progressive Party, YPP Imo State.
