Amb. Chijioke Ihunwo Pays New Year Visit To Imo Reps Member, Ugochinyere Ikenga Imo, Commends His Commitment to Social Justice

As part of his commitment to celebrate mutual friendship and brotherhood, a former Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpoor Local Government Council of Rivers State, Hon. Chief, AMB. Chijioke Ihunwo, on Friday, January 16, 2026,
paid a New Year visit to his dear friend and beloved brother in social activism, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere Ikeagwuonu, the member representing Ideato North and Ideato South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives; the Chairman House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream).

The visit, according to members of the delegation, including the Publisher of 4th Estate Reporters— Njoku MacDonald Obinna— provided an opportunity for warm interaction, reflection on national issues, and a reaffirmation of their shared commitment to progressive leadership and responsible governance.

The purpose was to sincerely appreciate and commend Hon. Ugochinyere for his uncommon courage and steadfastness in standing firmly on the side of truth when it mattered most, particularly during the critical political moments affecting Rivers State. Amb. Ihunwo, specifically acknowledged his bold, principled, and unwavering support for the Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara, at a time when silence or compromise would have been easier but less honorable.

In his remarks, the youthful and useful Rivers State political leader, Ihunwo, described Hon. Ugochinyere as a principled and forthright leader whose courage, sincerity, and deep sense of justice continue to inspire confidence in democratic governance, constitutionalism, and the rule of law.

Amb. Ihunwo noted that the lawmaker’s willingness to speak out and act in defense of truth, regardless of political pressure, reflects the kind of leadership Nigeria needs to strengthen its democratic institutions.

He further expressed profound gratitude for the lawmaker’s show of solidarity with the people and government of Rivers State, noting that such gestures of brotherhood, fairness, and national unity go beyond partisan interests and contribute significantly to the growth and stability of democracy.

“Leaders who place justice and national interest above personal or sectional considerations remain invaluable assets to the nation”, he asserted.

The New Year visit also served as a moment to reaffirm the strong bond of friendship and brotherhood between us, as well as our shared dedication to truth, good governance, accountable leadership, and the collective progress of Nigeria. It was a renewed pledge to continue working together, in our respective capacities, toward building a more just, united, and prosperous nation for all, he concluded.

Ugochinyere Ikenga Imo, while appreciating the delegation for finding time to pay him a New Year visit to his Akokwa country- home in Ideato North LGA of Imo State, maintained that such gesture has given him a renewed commitment to keep standing by the truth and fighting social injustice both in Rivers State and across the country where issues of national concerns are being raised.
