Matriculation: Provost Charges Alvan Students To Shun Vices, Study Hard

Students of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, have been charged to shun vices, study hard, respect rules and regulations of the institution to become useful to themselves, families and the society.
The charge was given by the Provost of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, Dr. (Mrs) Stella Ngozi Lemchi, when she addressed the students during its 45th Matriculation Ceremony held on Thursday at the College Pavilion.
She reminded the students to be of good conduct to their parents, teachers and the school management while joining Christian groups in the school to be able to improve morally.
“To be exceptional student, you must be focused and willing to work hard. This means attending your classes regularly, taking notes, studying hard and seeking help when you need it. We have wealth of resources available to support you, including our dedicated teaching staff, academic advisors and non – teaching personnel. We encourage you to be bold to approach our disciplinary and anti – corruption organs like SERVICOM and Anti – Corruption Transparency Monitoring Unit (ACTU) which are at your service in case you face any harassment by any staff”, she maintained.

The Provost said her “office and that of members of Management are accessible to all students who want to make a report or give a suggestion. We are committed to providing you with an environment that is conducive to learning, growth and development”.
While informing that about 1600 students were admitted into the College for 2022/2023 NCE, Degree and PDE (Regular/Sandwich/Ewp) program, the Deputy Provost of the College, Dr. Ngozi Casmir Ebomuche, hinted that the newly formed forum involving the parents of students of the College is a welcomed development, saying the forum will be informed of the policies and programs of the school especially as they affect the students who he encouraged to keep faith in order to achieve excellence.
In an interview, one of the matriculants, Osu Deborah, promised that she would be a good child to her parents just as she would read her book always in order to graduate with good grade to become a better person in the future.
With her mother, Happiness Osu, expressing happiness on her daughter’s admission into the College which she said she cherishes given to its quality education.
