Akagburuonye Bags Platinum Leadership Award …Urges Christians to Support God-Fearing Candidates …Commends Former Ebonyi Gov, Sam Egwu for Excellent Service Record
Ambassador Barr. Dr. Success Obioma Akagburuonye was on Saturday, August 22, 2026, honoured with a Platinum Leadership Award by the AG Professionals, Owerri District, for his commitment to Kingdom Investment and leadership.
At the maiden Mega Summit, Akagburuonye and Guest Speaker, Amb. Senator Dr. Sam . Egwu, first Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, urged Christians to actively participate in politics and support candidates with verifiable records of service and the fear of God. The summit held at AGC Open Door Assembly, No. 53 Dick Tiger Street, Trans-Egbu, Owerri, Imo State.
Addressing participants, Akagburuonye, Founder of Hope Rising for Imolites Foundation and governorship hopeful in Imo State, assured the people of God-centred leadership if elected. “I will not be negatively influenced once in Douglas House. My scorecard stands me out. I will represent you well. I will make the name of God proud,”he said.

Speaking on how believers can take political power, Akagburuonye quoted Proverbs 29: 2. “When the righteous are on the throne, the people rejoice,” he said. “It’s not just about supporting people. Get your PVC, protect your PVC. With our numerical strength, when we come out and vote, it’s possible to enthrone godly leadership.”
On stewardship, Akagburuonye said, “Let my money glorify God, let my capacity glorify God.” He added that leadership requires courage. “The courage to do and the courage not to do are two differentiators in human endeavours. AG Professionals, God bless you for bringing this to reality. I want you to do more.” He noted that poverty is a disease and urged believers to give thanksgiving, saying “to sleep and wake up is a miracle only God performs.”
The philanthropist commended Senator Sam Egwu for his record of service. “I am happy to listen to one of our own, former Governor of Ebonyi State. He has been Senator, he has been Governor, but he has not visited EFCC. That is the product of Assemblies of God Church,”he stated.
Also speaking, Senator Sam Egwu, first Executive governor of Ebonyi State described the current situation in the country as “unbearable.” He said Nigeria needs leaders “who have the fear of God and the capacity to deliver.” He urged Christians to get involved in politics and support candidates committed to the development of their communities and the state in order to sanitize governance.

The summit, themed “AG Nigeria and the Mandate of Governance”, was organized exclusively for pastors, ministers and professionals of Assemblies of God Nigeria. According to organizers, the purpose was to inspire and equip church members to embrace responsible leadership and godly influence in society.
The event also featured Rev. Abel Ukachi Amadi, Ph. D, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Nigeria, as Keynote Speaker, and Rev. C. B. Hezekiah, Ph. D*as Special Guest of Honour.
In his welcome address, Hon. Herbert Udochukwu Njoku-Andrew, President of AG Professionals, Owerri District, said the summit was convened to “rewrite history and bring the church at par with Proverbs 29: 2.” He said the essence was to mobilize support for brethren seeking elective positions “in block, with our time, resources and prayers.”
Akagburuonye was presented with the Platinum Leadership Award in recognition of his commitment to Kingdom Investment and leadership qualities through the Hope Rising for Imolites Foundation. Participants resolved to raise godly leaders and work for their emergence in governance and public service.
