The Afor Nzerem, Obinetiti, Nkwodioka, Ikpem Road in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State is about to be included in the 2023 Budget Estimate as one of the Roads to receive attention in the year 2023.

This is consequent upon the motion sponsored by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Amara Iwyanyanwu with four other lawmakers as Co-sponsors that urged the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma to have included it in the 2023 Budget Estimate scaling through on the floor of Imo State House of Assembly without a dissenting voice.

Leading the debate on the Motion, Hon. Iwuanyanwu noted the massive infrastructural revolution currently going in State, describing it as quality projects being undertaken in the 3 Senatorial Zones of the State by the 3R Mantra administration of the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.

According to him there are Schools, Markets, Public and Private buildings on the road, but the debilitated nature of the road has made it impossible for those facilities to function optimally, pointing out that though two kilometer roads are presently being done in each of the 27 LGAs, there is urgent need to include the AFOR NZEREM/OBENETTI NKWODIOKA/IKPEM ROAD in the 2023 Budget, to rehabilitate it.

He expressed confidence that the road, when completed, would bring accelerated development to the area, bearing in mind how the people of Imo State and neighboring States are presently enjoying the solidly constructed Owerri/Orlu and Owerri/Okigwe roads by the Hope Uzodimma Administration, pointing out that the projects have positively impacted the lives of Imo people.

The lawmaker reiterated that the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma also flagged off the construction of the Owerri/Mbaise road and that work is in progress there, as well as in other internal roads in the State, and pointed out that some of the internal roads in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area, especially the Afor Nzerem, Obinetiti, Nkwodioka Ikpem Road in the area are in a state of disrepair thereby causing the people of Ehime Mbano and other people plying the road an untold hardship.

All the lawmakers present during plenary, including; the member representing Obowo State Constituency, Hon Michael Crown Onyemaechi, the member representing Oru West State Constituency, Hon. Dominic Ezerieoha, and the member representing Aboh Mbaise State Constituency, Hon. Edy Obinna, supported the motion, giving out their individual concerns and experiences about the road, stressing that if the road was done, it would interconnect many other roads.

However, the Speaker, Rt Hon. Anthony Emeka Nduka, appreciated the Deputy Speaker, Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, for sponsoring the motion, and other lawmakers for supporting it, pointing out that the first step was to pass the Motion, while the second step would be to capture the said road in the 2023 budget, and finally, have the Road rehabilitated.

He directed the Clerk, Mrs. Chinelo Emenalom to convey the resolution of the House to the Governor.

Meanwhile, the Lawmakers screened and confirmed the Commissioner nominee sent by the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, Prof. Johncliff Chike Nwadike from Isu Local Government Area.

They also adopted the Motion to urge His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma to urge relevant Agencies to do Palliative and Extensive work on the bad spots on Owerri/Onitsha road, which is in a state of disrepair, before adjourning plenary to Tuesday, November 15, 2022.
