2023: SDP Elects Ekwebelem as Imo Guber Candidate
By Prince Eze…
Members of the Social Democratic Party, SDP in Imo State, have elected Hon Obinna Bright Ekwebelem as their candidate for the 11th November 2023 governorship race in Imo State.
The Onuimo LGA born business man garnered a total of nine hundred and seventy-six (976) delegates’ votes to clinch the ticket. The primary was conducted even after two aspirants to the position had earlier withdrawn.
In his remarks after the primary election, Hon Ekwebelem promised that his administration will provide quality education, fast track development in both rural and urban areas, as well as provide security and health.
The SDP governorship standard bearer gave his party members assurance that the ticket will not be in vaịn and that he will strengthen the party.

His words: “I want to tell you that as a young man I assure you that the ticket you have given to me will not be in vain”.
Addressing newsmen, Imo State Chairman of SDP, Prince Marshall Okaforanyanwu said the election was fantastic and very peaceful unlike what has been reported in the media about some other political parties.
He called on Imo electorate to embrace the SDP governorship candidate as he is a young man that represents the new dawn that the people are yearning to have.
“My advice to my fellow compatriots of Imo State is to look forward for a new dawn. Social Democratic Party is coming to rattle the state. We want to change the narrative. We’re going to take over. He is a youthful candidate. He is also very energetic. With what we have I think we’re going to get the best,” the party leader stated.
It will be recalled that delegates from the 27 Local Government Areas of the state were filing into the party’s Secretariat along the popular Wetheral Road as early as 10am and were seen undergoing the accreditation processes before actual voting commenced.
