Young Progressives Party(YPP) Imo Chapter Holds Primaries Amid Votes of Confidence

The primary elections of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) Imo State chapter held in the party’s secretariat in Owerri, the state capital last week have been adjudged as one of the freest and fair primaries in the history of primaries by political parties.

The peaceful and well-attended primaries produced twenty-seven candidates for the state House of Assembly seats with votes of confidence by the candidates during the process of the exercise.

In his address at the commencement of the primaries, the party’s state Chairman, Hon. Victor Diala who was flanked by the party Exco commended the aspirants and the delegates for their peaceful disposition. He explained to them that YPP is built on a solid foundation of trust, transparency, and equity.

Hon. Diala enjoined the candidates who will finally emerge to go about their campaign methodically and strategies to enable them clinch the seats. The state Chairman assured them of the party’s support at all times.

After the keenly contested elections, the following candidates emerged in the respective state constituencies,

  1. Ahiazu Mbaise, Chief Stanley Onu,
  2. Isiala Mbano, Hon David Ekene Achinulo,
  3. Ideato North, Comrade Kingsley Ogbonna,
  4. Owerri Municipal Hon. Chidiebere Nze,
  5. Njaba Comrade Obinna Odoemenam.
  6. Ihitte Uboma, Dr. Daniel Okoro,
  7. Ngor Okpala, Comrade Gabriel Ibeh
  8. Oru West, Mr. Nnanna Vincent,
  9. Owerri North, Engr. Noel Okere,
  10. Orsu , Chief Emeka Ogoke,
  11. Oguta, Hon. Vitus Obioma Obiekwe,
  12. Ezinihite, Mr Juliana Ugorji.
  13. Ohaji/Egbema Mr Umunakwe Samuel,
  14. Mbaitoli Hon. Kingsley Nwahiri,
  15. Nwangele, Mr Uchenne Odom,
  16. Owerri West Mr Rapheal Irechukwu,
  17. Ehime Mbano, Chief Joseph Inuoha,
  18. Ikeduru, Chief Emma Njoku,
  19. Aboh Mbaise, Hon. Sixtus Agbaraji,
  20. Onuimo, Mr Anselem Mgbowu and Obowo, Mr Kingsley Iroanuna.

Speaking with newsmen after his Election, the candidate for Ahiazu Mbaise State constituency commended the party executives for conducting free and fair elections.

He said that YPP is a party for the youth and the progressive-minded and that he will use his good offices if he wins the election to uplift and develop his constituency through effective representation.

In his address to Journalists, the candidate for Obowo state constituency Mr Kingsley Iroanuna thanked all those who made it possible for him to emerge as the flag bearer of YPP in the Obowo State Assembly Election.

He promised not to disappoint his constituents for the confidence they reposed in him for finding him fit to represent them.

Consequently, the following candidates emerged as the senatorial flag bearers for the party, Okigwe senatorial zone Engr. Chief Sir. Anthony Odu, Owerri Zone, Prof. Jonathan Okere, and Orlu Zone, Hon. Cyril Opurum.

While the Federal House of Representatives candidates are Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihite Comrade Jude Nwaru, Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala, Comrade Edwin Osuagwu, Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Engr. C.C Onuoha, Owerri Federal Constituency, Mr. Nwaneri Ekene Philip, Nwangele/ Isu/ Nkwerre/ Njaba, Hon. Mrs Felicia Ibe.

Others are: Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Mr Chibuike Iheanacho, Orlu/Orsu/Oru East Mr Stanley Anyanehie, Ideator North/South Comrade Uzoamaka J.N, Okigwe South Kenkwo Kessandu Kingsley and Okigwe North Mr Chidi Eziefule.

The primaries were witnessed by independent National Electoral Commission Officers (INEC), the Department of State Service officer (DSS) police, Independent Observers, Hon. Chris Eze represented the National Working Committee of the party.
