Verification Exercise: We Are Not Against Imo Govt Policies and Programmes — NULGE
Owerri, May 16, 2020 The Imo State leadership of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has said it is not against government policies and programmes nor its ongoing verification exercise.
The President of NULGE, Imo State Chapter, Comrade Richard Ezeh, who stated this while addressing journalists at the NUJ Press Centre over the weekend, promised to work closely with Gov. Hope Uzodinma led government.
He accused some dissident members of the Union of being used to blackmail the Union before the Government.
“We are not against government policies and programmes. We are the first to pay courtesy visit to the present government, so we can’t be against the same government we have given our best,” he said.
Ezeh insisted that the recent unfounded falsehood and wicked blackmail against Imo NULGE is the handwork of some dissident members of the Union who lost out in the election, adding that they are being used against Imo NULGE.
He said they are trying to seek relevance in the present administration saying that during the last administration of Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha, they tagged them APC members.
“It is unfortunate that the same people that used former Deputy Governor of the state Engr. Gerald Irona against us are today calling us Irona boys.
“The truth remains that they have no place in the present government. It is on record that these faceless members work very close with the Ihedioha administration and did all they could to discredit the union but God said no,” he said.
NULGE, therefore, plegded their unalloyed support to the present administration led by Sen. Hope Uzodinma and promised to partner with it in the resent verification exercise going on in the local government areas saying he has directed their officers in the LGAs to cooperate with the government in the exercise.
Ezeh argued that those spreading falsehood about non existing feud between Government and NULGE are agents of the opposition in the state who are determined to create tension and unrest in Imo NULGE.
The NULGE chairman, used the opportunity to call on the faceless group to hide their faces in shame, pointing out that the present NULGE leadership in the state won their election and has come to stay.
