TSF calls for nominations for 2026 TSF – Nze Sir Raphael O. Iro Memorial Teachers Merit Award

THE STRIVAD FOUNDATION (TSF) has called for submission of the 2026 edition of TSF-Nze Sir Raphael O. Iro Memorial Teachers Merit Award nominations for qualified Nigerian teachers.

In a release made available by the Director of Communications of TSF, Dr. Vera Williams-Mordi. The Foundation encouraged members of the public to send in their nominations of qualified and deserving Nigerian Teachers (serving or retired) from public schools in Nigeria for the 2026 Edition of TSF-Nze Sir Raphael O. Iro Memorial Teachers Merit Award.

The Teachers will not nominate themselves rather they can only be nominated by a different person other that the nominee himself or herself. The award is a merit award and therefore is given out purely on merit and not by application hence Awardee can only be a person who was nominated by another person or people who know him or her very well and can correctly attest to their worthiness of being honoured as a highly dedicated teacher and nominate him or her for consideration for the merit Award.

The annual merit award giving for qualified and highly dedicated Nigerian Teachers was initiated in 2022 by the THE STRIVAD FOUNDATION, an international Non-Governmental charity Organisation to annually recognize and honour 6 dedicated selected Nigerian Teachers who are still serving in any public school in Nigeria or have retired. The recognition is backed with a package of an Award Certification and a cash prize for every selected nominee.

The Award is in honour and memory of the late renowned Nigerian teacher and educationist, Nze Sir Raphael Onyekwere Iro (Born 1932 – Died 2013), who lived and died as a very highly dedicated public school teacher and administrator serving in different parts of Nigeria.

The award giving takes place every year and nominations can always be submitted till 30th of November every year. All nominations received on or before November 30th, shall be strictly reviewed for selection of qualified Awardees by the Awardee Selection Committee of the Foundation. The committee members comprises of a highly competent and unbiased indepent team who do the selection strictly based on merit.

According to her, the nominations should include a brief profile/CV of the nominee, highlighting why the nominee is considered a committed teacher who deserves to be specially recognized and honored with the Award.

The contact details for reaching out to the nominee must be provided (In the case of Post-Humous, the contact details of a family representative of the nominee must be provided).

The Award is instituted in memory of the late Nze Sir Raphael Onyekwere Iro, a distinguished, renowned and highly committed teacher, educationist, school administrator, community leader. The award is aimed at identifying, recognizing and motivating dedicated and committed teachers within the public schools in Nigeria.
