Sensitization of Northern Women Begins In Imo …As SSA, Hajia Hamza Calls For Peaceful Co-existence
Imo State government has embarked on sensitization programme geared towards promoting growth and peaceful co-existence among the Igbo and Hausas living in the State.
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Hope Uzodinma on Gender, Vulnerable Groups and Northern Women Affairs, Hajia Hamza Fatima, disclosed this weekend at Orlu Local Government Headquarter, Orlu – venue of the programme.
Hajia Hamza who expressed satisfaction at the turnout, described the programme as the first of its kind in the history of the State.
The Owerri-born politician charged the women to cohabit peacefully with their Igbo brothers and sisters as that would earn them massive support from the state government.
“The government will through this medium make life better for all of us living in the State,” Hajia Hamza said, while lauding Governor Uzodinma for appointing northerners in his government.
The Chairman of Orlu Local Government Council, Mrs. Nneoma Ndukwu assured that Hausas in Orlu LGA are safe and urged them to always support the government.
The SSA on Artisans and Technicians, Honourable Johndonald Ikegwuruka advised them to support their sister, Hajia Hamza to succeed in her position.
Describing Governor Hope Uzodinma as a detribalized Nigerian, Ikegwuruka informed that governance is the responsibility of everybody and urged them to join hands in the development of the state.
Also speaking, the SSA on Community Relations, Orlu Zone, Mrs Ngozi Ihemdi said Governor Uzodinma is providing democracy dividends to Imo people.
“Our governor is building roads, he has signed MoU with Julius Berger to work on Orlu-Owerri road, he has reformed civil service and provided mobile clinics. We appeal for your support, cooperation and loyalty”, Ihemdi stressed.
Earlier in his speech, Orlu Zone Hausa Leader, Alhaji Engr Yakubu said Governor Uzodinma has made them indigenes of the state through his all-inclusive governance. He thanked the governor for donating food items to them during Salah and Covid-19 lockdown.
Among those in attendance were Honourable Nwokedi Stanford Arinze – SSA on Public Enlightenment, Sheik Ahmed Mohammed – Chief Imam of Orlu Zone, Alhaji Awal – Representative of Emir of Orlu Zone, Rabbi Hassan – Former Amira, Federation of Muslim Women, Hajia Rukiya Ibrahim – Zonal Coordinator Owerri Northern Women, Coordinators and members of Hausa Community in Orlu Zone.
