PDP Congress: Alagbaoso Berates Ihedioha …says party not one man show
By Ikenna Orioha.
As People’s Democratic Party, Imo State, battles with the defection to APC by its members, Member representing Orlu/Orsu/Oru East Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt Hon Asiwaju Jerry Alagbaoso, had berated Emeka Ihedioha for manipulating the recently conducted Congress of the party particularly at his Federal Constituency thereby causing instability in the party.
Alagbaoso who reflected that he is the highest political leader in Orlu Zone PDP, frowned that the handpicking of the party leadership in the March 2020 Congress of the party at his Federal Constituency was against the normal conduct of the party as the Congress saw questionable people piloting its affairs which is now faced with challenges of defection and acrimonious tendencies.
In his Press Briefing at his Constituency Office, Orlu, on Friday, Alagbaoso who said he had contributed immensely to the growth, forwardness and unity of PDP at both Ward, LGA, State and Federal levels, said the former Governor relied so much on lies from the enemies of PDP at Orlu, Orsu and Oru East local government areas to sideline and shortchange his supporters and other good and active members of the PDP, those who do not play anti party activity nor use blackmail to pull down those who have achieved so much for the party and the society.
Alagbaoso is bitter that the last PDP Congress broke the Carmel’s back, calling on whom it may concern to revisit the last PDP Congress in his Federal Constituency particular and if possible conduct fresh election.
He said “because people want to rule by force that is why in the Congress the officials were handpicked by Emeka Ihedioha who thought I would defect to APC having much regard and brotherly love for Governor Hope Uzodimma who is from Orlu Senatorial Zone. Although Orlu Zone deeply benefited from Ihedioha’s government” with Owerri Zone loosing, saying many of Ihedioha’s appointees from Orsu LGA were liars who should be held responsible for the internal mess confronting the PDP.
Alagbaoso while regretting the ill-conduct of some party leadership in the PDP family, advised Ihedioha to redress his steps and allow PDP to revisit the general Congress if the issues of defections lingering in the PDP must take some positive shape.
He said, “their guided and their misguided sensibilities and miscalculations during the last PDP Congress at our Federal Constituency in general and Orsu LGA in particular definitely must have gotten some negative effects and in terms of followedship and party faithfulness in our Federal Constituency now and in the future”.
When asked if he had the intention to join APC as being rumored, Alagbaoso stated clearly that he has no intention to leave PDP because PDP supported him fully even with the help of the people of his constituents to be at the Green Chamber representing them, a representation he described as effective, affecting and endearing and glorifying.
He said he had overwhelmingly won all his elections because of his numerous achievements for his people ranging from employment, structure and infrastructure, including “assisting in paying and equipping PDP Offices in Orlu and Oru East. Some of these government appointees never supported the Orsu LGA PDP Chairman in particular and continued to sabotage PDP with Team Ihedioha. They moved to Rebuild Imo as an alternative to PDP”.
While affirming that the Imo PDP is not for sale because it does not belong to one person with Alagbaoso posited that “a political party in opposition during a Congress does not operate like a bull in China shop or like a mentally challenged character. The truth regarding the PDP Congress is that when one road closes, another opens. PDP as a party in Imo State, is not for sale and it does not belong to one particular individual for his or her political trials and errors. More so when there are no political fools in Orlu, Owerri and Okigwe Zones of Imo State…”
He buttressed that his relationship with Governor Hope Uzodimma remains cordial and superbly, saying he would always support him to move Imo State forward with full assurance to his constituents on continued pronounced goodly and open representation with a view to improving development, economic prosperity, peace and comfort.
He told his supporters and Imo people to disregard the rumor that he is thinking of leaving the PDP for APC, stating that if he would defect he would first resign, calling on the party to put its ass together in order to meet challenges of party leadership, cheap lies: blackmailing, backbiting and derogatory gossips and overzealousness.
