By ThankGod Emeh…
The humanitarian works of Rev Father Boniface Duru in the educational, and medical sectors of the society among others have been lauded and described as a dedicated call to service by people of Amaigbo, in Nwangele local government area of Imo state and environs.
The commendation came from indigenes of the area as wells as parents, teachers, students and pupils of Azione Verde International School Amaigbo at the historic first graduation and one year anniversary celebration of the school held on Tuesday 8th August, 2023 at the school premises.
They said the management of the school have shown all round capacity in its administration having been well acknowledged in the city as an institution with sound minds, intellectuals and smart graduands from Nursery to Secondary.
The Proprietor of the school and founder of an Italian Non-governmental Organization; Opera Don Bonifacio (The Works of Father Boniface), Rev. Father Boniface Ifeanyi Duru said the organization as well as the institution were birthed out of his believe and love for humanity and for children to go to school beyond limitations, noting that Education is the future where the children belong.
“This is because if we want our children to be our future, then we must prepare to educate them…but to have children and train them, you have to give them a place because every good idea must have a place”
Rev Fr Duru added that the goal of Azione Verde Schools is to provide holistic education to the human person where students shall be moulded beyond reading and writing.
He charged parents to embrace their responsibilities with love, care and attention, noting that the main responsibility of a parent is not to procreate but raise their children in the fear of the Lord.
The Proprietor however tasked parents to mandate their children and wards to be accountable for their actions while providing their needs as and when due.
Rev Father Boniface Duru equally called on teachers to contribute their quota in raising their pupils and students to not only be good ambassadors of the school but agents of transformation in society.
He thanked God for seeing him and the management throughout their programmes and projects while noting that the Twenty-four (24) member team of Opera Don Bonifacio have contributed immensely for the growth and development of the school.
Rev. Fr Duru who is an illustrious son of Amaigbo and a Catholic priest of Orlu diocese in Imo State appealed the state government to construct the road leading to the institution. He regretted that earlier contracts awarded by past government for the construction of the road was truncated by the contractors.
He said all efforts to see His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma on this issue proved abortive.
Speaking earlier in her welcome address, the Administrator of Azione Verde International School, Amaigbo, Sister Sussanmaria Chigemezu Chukwu emphasized that the school “have given birth to champions, who are well molded, fashioned and educated in spiritual life, physical life, social life, and Psychological life”
She however thanked the Proprietor, Rev Father Boniface Duru alongside the management and teachers for their outstanding efforts in ensuring that the school gets the best in everything.
Two Members of “Opera Don Bonificio” who spoke on behalf of the twenty-four member-team, Domenic Agatiello and Margherita Ferara said they are poised to bring change in the narratives of educational, medical, psychological developments among others while noting that “Education is the key to every progress”
“When we meet these children, we know that the only way to be what we want to be is to go to school”
Ferara added that their professional colleagues such as Architects, Educators, and Doctors are always on ground ensuring that the objectives of the organization, school and outreaches are solidly met.
“We make sure the students are receiving sound education”
“Another very important part is our medical outreach that take place in our hospital where some Nigerian-Italian medical doctors will treat patients who need care for free”
