Okey Ezeh, So Determined to Delivering Sound Education to Ahiazu Mbaise – Collins Opuruozor
A media strategist and consultant in Imo, Mr Collins Opuruozor has repose confidence in the governorship flagbearer of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Sir Okey Ezeh to bring about the much yearned for transformation in the education sector of the state.
Mr Opuruozor stated this in Owerri, the state capital after reviewing the educational policy of Okey Ezeh on Monday 11, 2019 especially as it concerns Ahiazu Mbaise area of the state.
According to him, “Education is in fact the bedrock of development in any society. A well educated population has everything it takes to create a prosperous society”
“The educational policy thrust of Okey Ezeh shall see Ahiazu have more 500 new teachers especially science teachers, renovate and reconstruct dilapidated schools, provide basic infrastructure like library facilities, modern lavatories, furniture, provide reading materials/aids and audio-visual facilities in all the schools, and employ qualified supervisors for proper monitoring and inspection.”
He said the target of this policy is to promote a functional, qualitative education that will enhance the standard of living of Ahiazu Mbaise people.
“In Ahiazu Mbaise, education is highly appreciated and accorded top priority. This is the reason Ahiazu has 102 Primary schools, 23 Post Primary schools, and18 Vocational schools. However, Ahiazu only has the total of 795 Primary School teachers (male 155 and female 640). The figure for Post-Primary teachers is just 351 (male 107 and female 244). The students-teacher ratio for Primary school is 65: 1 while that of Post-Primary school is 90:1”, Opuruozor revealed.
He added that education is a big challenge to the good people of Ahiazu Mbaise stressing that inadequate number of teachers as shown by the student-teacher ratio above has severely lowered the quality of output in the system and the shortage is acute for science teachers.
“Inadequate and dilapidated school buildings, moribund curriculum and lack of library and toilet facilities also confront the school system in Ahiazu as well as lack of modern pedagogical equipment and teaching aids”, the media strategist continued.
“Ndi Ahiazu, this is our great opportunity to make the future we seek. Okey Ezeh, and no other person, has the capacity to make Ahiazu great. Vote SDP! Vote Okey Ezeh for Imo State Governor.”
