Ogueri urges surveyors to maintain ethical professional practice
By Ikenna Orioha…

To ensure trust, integrity, reliability, accuracy and success in surveying, surveyors have been urged to maintain professional ethics in the course of practice.
This urge was made by Surv. Ogueri Johnson, who is the Principal Consultant and the Managing Director of Johnson EnviroConsult Limited, in an interview with journalists during the General Meeting and Inuaguration of New Exco of Association of Private Practicing Surveyors of Nigeria (APPSN), a Subgroup of Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Imo State branch, held at NIS Secretariat, behind SUBEB, Portharcourt Road, Owerri, on Tuesday.
Ogueri who is the Publicity Secretary of Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, said that the Code of Conduct or Set of Standards, outlined by the body, should be maintained by all registered and certified practitioners, so that quality in surveying would be advanced.
Expressing delight over the formidability and organization of APPSN in Imo State, Ogueri said the success and progress of the Association is as a result of the unity and cordiality of members being engineered by the leadership.
He said the lecture during the event by the guest speaker, Surv. Barr. Osaretin Ogbebor, centering on rights and ethics on surveying and land, was very apt and impacting, encouraging the new exco led by Surv. Ezeonyeasi Ekene Ken, to lead well and in accordance to the rules and regulations of the association to move forward.
“We are hopeful that the lecture will impact greatly in the lives of surveyors especially those who have been deprived of the right to practice – those who have been victims of unlawful prosecution by the security agents. Surveyors will know more of their rights of practice having been taken on that legal lane once more. It is a welcome call by the barrister.
“This is a new dawn and hence I advise the new leadership to help the branch to ensure that it is a bye-bye to shrewd practice and every surveyor in Imo State has to rise up to the present day challenge which is to make the state surveyor profession very robust and progressive. We must support what is good and right”, Ogueri maintained.
He harped that the theme of the event: “The Rights Privileges And Liabilities Of Private Practicing Surveyors In Nigeria”, is educatively thoughtful.
