Jabulani 4th Edition Attracts Special Dignitaries …as Sports Commissioner Hon. Obinna Onyeocha Promises Govt Partnership

The annual Jabulani Para Soccer match competition was held on Wednesday 9th October 2024 at Dan Anyiam stadium Owerri .
The competition is usually organized to commemorate the birthday celebration of a young Imo entrepreneur and visual artist, Mr Bright Chizoba Obiduru to help encourage sportsmanship and grow talent among physically challenge persons in our society.
In his address, the Imo state commissioner of sports Hon. Obinna Onyeocha expressed gratitude to the host of the competition stressing that the programme is inline with the vision of the state governor Sen. Hope Uzodinma to develop sports in the state.
According to him, “I am impressed with the passion exhibited by the organizers of this special event to encourage sports among the physically challenged persons, and am privileged to witness different talents being displayed here today, it is the first of it kind in Imo state and I can assure you that my report about this event will surely be positive.
“The next edition I will ensure that this programme will get a full government support to further boost the competition, and I also commend the initiator of Jabulani para soccer competition for his gesture towards harnessing talents among our brothers who are physically challenge, he said.
The honourable commissioner of environmental Hon. Majority Emenike in his speech encouraged Imo youths to engage their time in doing meaning programme that will help the society while describing the host of the event Mr Bright Chizoba Obiduru as hardworking youths who has carved a niche for himself with the introduction of para soccer sports in Imo state.
“This is the kind of sports we watch in other countries where there is ample opportunities for the physically challenged persons to develop their sports skills and talents. I’m m glad we are witnessing the same thing here in Imo state and we must give our own support.
He further advised the organizers to incorporate more indigenous athletes in competition adding that it will help keep them busy instead of languishing in the streets while begging for arms.
Earlier in his speech, the founder of Jabulani para soccer competition Mr Bright Chizoba Obiduru reiterated that the aim of the programme is to build love and hope among the disabled community adding that there is a great ability in every disability hence his decision to celebrate his birthday every year with the physically challenged persons by creating avenue for them to sharpen and display their talents.
